Stainable Landscaping
Posted by: site admin @ 1:48 pm

Stainable landscaping is becoming the biggest issue for landscape contractors and their clients. It is a growing movement that will change how we design, build and create our gardens and landscapes. A strong commitment to stainability is practicing good stewardship of the environment.

To practice stainable landscaping means the same to the landscape professional as it does to the Organic farmer/gardener. Using products and materials from renewable resources, conserving water and energy with an emphasis on protecting the environment will help in the fight against global warming and depletion of our natural resources.

Everyone one can participate in sustainable landscaping and gardening from the landscape professional to the consumer, the following is a list of landscaping principles you can follow:

  1. Create a design to determine how you will use your landscape/garden space to establish a sustainable criteria.
  2. Use the things in nature that will enhance your landscape such as native plants and grasses
  3. Support healthy soil by using compost and natural fertilizers
  4. Design a irrigation system for xeriscaping  (drip system), by using water efficiently and effectively and not wasting it.
  5. Practice reusing, recycling and conserving when ever possible.

So keep up the good fight to promote and practice sustainable landscaping
